Yay for more pot pies in my belly!Marisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07744439275163908881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408062859410323062.post-10020599104568898552013-02-03T17:53:20.877-05:002013-02-03T17:53:20.877-05:00I've been making a lot of pot pies lately. The first was made half according to the recipe with roasted whatever-root-vegetables-are-in-my-fridge and the second was mostly made according to the recipe. Both were good. The cats thought so too, and knocked the first one off the stove.Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00710078670253387262noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408062859410323062.post-91880870677799557082013-01-19T11:55:12.238-05:002013-01-19T11:55:12.238-05:00Blahblahblah, who knows why I chose to say were in...Blahblahblah, who knows why I chose to say were instead of was in the first sentence.Marisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07744439275163908881noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408062859410323062.post-30044668550678077752013-01-18T21:02:08.267-05:002013-01-18T21:02:08.267-05:00In principle, I support the use of "they,&quo...In principle, I support the use of "they," because it makes sense and doesn't sound any worse than randomly assigning a gender or and it sounds a lot better than "he or she," but I can't bring myself to do it in my own writing. But here you don't really have a reason unless you're joining the gender-neutral cause.

Also, if we're going to be grammarians, shouldn't it be "she were" because it's still subjunctive like the first sentence? But who would actually say "were"?Coopernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8408062859410323062.post-60860728037705928162013-01-18T15:59:36.236-05:002013-01-18T15:59:36.236-05:00Awesome!Awesome!dandelioniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08586179762995811714noreply@blogger.com
